Mummy said “Look, Lillian.  There are six hot cross buns.  How many do we have each?”

Lillian thought for a moment.  Then she had an idea. She held up six fingers, three on each hand.

“Three for Daddy,” folding down three fingers, “three for Mummy,” folding down three more, and… “no, that’s not fair.”

She tried again, putting the fingers up again. “Two for Daddy, two for Mummy, and… two for me!”

Later, we were having sausages for lunch.  Mummy posed a harder problem.  “Lillian, there are ten sausages.  How many each?”

Ten fingers go up.  “Three for Daddy…three for Mummy…three for me…and we share the last one!”
