Today when we got home, Lillian found some snails in the front garden. On the weekend we had planted our modest little vege crop for this year – mostly basil, chillies and tomatoes. I said we better get rid of the snails, because they might eat our plants. She picked up five of them and held them in her hand. She brought them in and put them on the dining table while we had dinner. She would check on them occasionally. When it was bedtime, she wanted to bring them to bed with her. We said no, no snails in bed. So she asked – could she have them on the bedside table? We found a plastic jar, and put the snails in there.
