We were reading a book (her favorite, Animals, again). I turned the page. She thought I had accidentally turned multiple pages.
“Daddy, you missed one.”
“No I didn’t.”
“Daddy, I think you missed one.”
[Comment: here she shows the beginnings of a kind of epistemic metacognition, i.e., being reflective about her states of mind and possible discrepancy between her thoughts and reality – plus the matching capacity to articulate that verbally using the correct grammatical form. I commented in a previous post that she was able to do something like this with *my* state of mind; here she is doing it with her state of mind.]
